News Release:STAR Catholic’s Julia Kormysh nominated for ASBA Edwin Parr Teacher Award

STAR Catholic School Division is proud to announce that Julia Kormysh has been selected as the division’s recipients of the Edwin Parr Teacher Award. This award recognizes outstanding first-year teachers from six zones across the province who demonstrate excellence in the classroom and a commitment to student success.

From her very first day as a substitute teacher last spring, Ms. Kormysh showcased exceptional teaching abilities and a natural connection with students. Despite challenging circumstances and limited lesson plans, she stepped in with confidence, refining and adapting lessons to best meet the needs of her students.

“What truly sets Julia Kormysh apart is her unwavering positive attitude and confidence, which she brings to every aspect of her work. She faces challenges with a smile and handles even the most difficult situations with grace,” said Janelle Molzan, Principal of St. Anthony School. “Her willingness to learn and grow, paired with her ability to adapt quickly, makes her an invaluable asset to any team.”

Beyond her teaching abilities, Ms. Kormysh’s dedication to her students and willingness to go above and beyond exemplify the qualities of an exceptional educator.

In response to receiving the award, Ms. Kormysh shared: “I am deeply honored to receive the Edwin Parr Award. Teaching at St. Anthony within the STAR Catholic Division has been an incredibly rewarding experience, and I am truly grateful to be part of such a supportive and faith-filled community. This recognition reinforces my commitment to fostering a love of learning and faith in my students each day.”
